Site: Located in downtown San Jose, our urban school is built on 3 acres of land. This three story campus can provide instruction for 750 students.

Population: 570 students from pre-K to 5th grade. 70% of students are Latino, 55% are English Language Learners.

Faculty: HMS has 22 fully credentialed teachers. Class reduction is maintained in grades K-2nd with 20 students in each class.

Stakeholder involvement: HMS has over 19 volunteer lead committee and programs that focus on the needs of students, faculty and school.

Technology: HMS is a leader in technology for elementary-age students. Our campus is wireless. HMS has laptop carts that can be rolled into any classroom for projects, research, and training.

Academic achievement: Despite having a significant number of English Language Learners and the highest concentration of homeless children, HMS students continue to make positive gains on state standardized tests.

Community: HMS continues to evolve into a downtown community learning center. A place where students, parents and community partners unite to create an environment that cultivates and nurtures lifelong learners.
